Parents and guardians of Middlesex Elementary School, This was a GREAT first day of school!  It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces entering the building this morning.  Students quickly adjusted to being at MES and by 9:30, teachers were teaching!  This morning the car line ran well.  We were able to keep the cars off Hanes Ave.  Just a reminder, if you would like for your child to eat breakfast in the mornings they need to be at school before 7:55 so they are not missing any instruction in the classroom. PikMyKid went as expected this afternoon!  We still have a lot to work out but we will get there.  Your child should have brought home a car tag with his/her name and information.  Please make sure you put this in the window of your vehicle tomorrow when picking up your child.  This should help speed up the process.  Parents, you do not have to notify us when you arrive on campus.  We will send a staff member out in plenty of time to enter the number into the dismissal program.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work out the kinks in our dismissal process. We did start selling tickets to the car line parents for $1 each.  We will be selling the tickets all this week.  We will have a Facebook live drawing on Tuesday morning.  The winner of the drawing will receive a parking spot from now until December to wait for their child instead of going through the entire car line.  This will make your dismissal much quicker, especially if you have children to pick up at the middle school.  We will draw three winners on Tuesday.  You must keep up with your ticket as we do not have names written on the back.  The three winners will need to bring in the ticket to claim the parking spot.  If no one claims the parking spot by 8 AM Wednesday morning, we will draw another ticket.  All money will go to help support MES students and staff. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!  Have a great evening!

Good afternoon Cougar families! We had a wonderful turnout for our Open House. Thank you for coming and taking the time to meet your child's teacher. I would like to take this opportunity to ensure you know our drop-off and pickup process. Students may begin being dropped off at 7:20. From 7:20-7:40, all students will report to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to wait for the 7:40 bell. At 7:40, students will leave the cafeteria and head to his/her class. Students arriving between 7:40 and 7:55 may go to the cafeteria to eat or report to class. If your child plans to eat breakfast, please ensure they arrive on campus before 7:55. This will give them time to eat and not miss any important instruction in the classroom. The car line should be double-filed until it reaches the light pole. It should then transition to a single file in front of the school. Do not pull around other cars in front of the school. This creates a major safety issue for your child as well as others. Please make sure you do not block the exit when you pull in. As you are aware, we will begin using PikMyKid for dismissal. Please make sure you download the app and scan the QR code you were given at Open House. This will help speed up the process. I do ask for patience as we adjust to this new process. Dismissal for the first 10 days may run slower than normal. Once all of us have transitioned to this new routine, your child will be much safer during our dismissal, and that was the primary goal of transitioning to PikMyKid. Please encourage your child to quickly make their way to the car cones once his/her name has been called. If your child is not at the cone when you arrive, you will be asked to pull up and wait. During this first week of school, we do have staggered enrollment for our PreK and Kindergarten students. Please make sure you only bring your child on the days the teachers have instructed you to do so. This allows teachers to build relationships and work on class routines while in a smaller group. This also provides a level of comfort to your child as they transition to school. When your PreK child is to report to school, they should be dropped off and picked up by the end door near the PreK classroom. Only PreK parents should enter the bus lot. Please ensure you are not blocking the entrance and are leaving room for the buses to enter and exit easily. During the first week of school when your child reports, PreK and Kindergarten parents ONLY be allowed to escort their child to the classroom. This will end when all students return on September 3rd. On September 3rd, ALL students should walk to the classrooms alone. Do not worry; we will have staff in the hallway to help make sure your child gets to the correct location. We are very excited about this school year and look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child's success!
