Sherri Wells Principal 2020-2021

Welcome to our Middlesex Elementary School website...home of the Cougars. I am Sherri Wells, and I am the principal of this wonderful school! I have been in education for 28 years, and I am currently moving into my 7th year as the principal. Prior to my principalship here at MES, I served as an assistant principal at Spring Hope Elementary School for 7 years. Prior to my administrative position, I taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade.
I have had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful students and parents. Our goal at Middlesex Elementary School is to prepare our students for their future. We work together as a staff team to meet the many varied needs of all of our students. We provide them with real life experiences and dedicate our time to helping each student grow academically, physically, emotionally, and socially.
We look forward to a prosperous school year of molding bright futures! If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at smwells@ncpschools.net or call the school @ 252-462-2815. You can also message me through our DOJO system.

Greetings from Middlesex Elementary School- the home of the COUGARS ... where REAL LIFE LEARNING is preparing our students for REAL LIFE LIVING. I am so excited to begin my 27th year at MES. Mrs. Wells and I are eager to start a new year with our great students, whom we have missed dearly.
I began my career in early childhood education 39 years ago in my Virginia hometown, where I worked as a teacher assistant before heading off to Longwood University. It didn't take long to realize that I wanted a career in teaching and working with children. After teaching in Virginia for 9 years, I moved to North Carolina and began my work in the Nash-Rocky Mount Public School system. My experience includes teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, 3rd grade,5th grade and EC students. In 2006, I received my Master's Degree from East Carolina University in School Administration and Curriculum, and was fortunate to transition into the Assistant Principal position at MES. I can say without a doubt that Middlesex Elementary has been my "home away from home". I have also resided in the Middlesex community for 22 years, and this has afforded me the benefit of fostering my relationships with our students and their families even more.
Middlesex Elementary School is certifiably a great place to be! This has been a common acknowledgement from our volunteers, substitute teachers and visitors that we have the most polite and kind students on our campus. We pride ourselves on being an encouraging voice to our students and staff, empowering them to reach their full potential. I look forward to another great year at MES and we anticipate celebrating more phenomenal successes! If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at kkclarke@ncpschools.net or call the school @ 252-462-2815. You can also message me through our DOJO system.
